Guest speakers: Ann Shulgin and Dr. William Rowlandson

Sasha and Ann ShulginPROGRAM NOTES:

“If you are going to experiment with a psychedelic of any kind, make sure you are depranil-free for at least five days, probably seven would be safer.”
-Ann Shulgin

“You don’t really need MDMA or a psychedelic to do [deep personal therapy]. … I think that until at least some of these materials become legal, don’t dismiss the possibilities of hypnotherapy doing exactly what you need and want.”
-Ann Shulgin

“As far as I’m concerned, there is no substitute for MDMA, because it is the insight drug. And it does this magical combination of allowing you to see inside without fear and hostility toward yourself. It has a beautiful, beautiful effect, and no other drug that we know of so far manages to do that.”
-Ann Shulgin

“[Our] paradox is the ceaseless, constant drive to understand something that is inherently un-understandable. Now, of course, the paradox lies in the fact that we understand it is not to be understood, and yet we understand that we continue to try to understand. It’s a beautiful paradox.”
– Dr. William Rowlandson

  1. haha, what a tremendous mistake i made there, hope you saw that i meant to say: but that doesn’t mean that the thought of you in a hammock with a pipe in the middle of a wonderful summer DOESN’T fill me with only joyful feelings.

guess i tried to use too many negations to try to say a positive thing, sorry!

  2. thank you Lorenzo! i admit that i am frequently checking for, and always eagerly awaiting new podcasts from you, but that doesn’t mean that the thought of you in a hammock with a pipe in the middle of a wonderful summer fills me with only joyful feelings, so take all the time off in the world (just please never discard the podcasting all together!!), hehe:)

the words “meta” and “recursion” come to mind when i hear these talks. we see the very nature of what is discussed in the podcasts expressed in the way the podcasts are having an effect on its listeners.

being lazy, i don’t care to give examples (and also because what if i’m just waay off) but does anyone else find that there is a bifurcation (the very word recurring often) going on of information shared through channels like the salon, (as well as a bifurcation of the kinds of channels, so that the process has a fractal expression the same way tree branches do) and how it all comes together as a whole in each of us, as we are grasping it bit by bit, and how there is recursion seen from 3 dimensional reality inward into our computers and the representation of the world that is the internet, and further into elements that are found there, like this very podcast, and also outwards into entheospace, it being to the 3 dimensions, what 3D is to the internet? (GASP) 😛
