PROGRAM NOTES:

Date this lecture was recorded: August 11, 2018

Today’s podcast features a recent talk given by Shonagh Home at the New Moon Mycology Summit that was held in Wingdale, New York. As she speaks of humankind’s loss of some of the powerful symbols that paganism once provided, Shonagh weaves in specific examples of ways in which her clients have leveraged the imagery experienced in mushroom trips to resolve issues in their everyday lives. Shonagh also tells the story of how she came to be a medicine woman.

“Our state-run, Prussian education system, which is worldwide by the way, is designed to shut down imagination and creative genius to produce a predictable and compliant populace.” –Shonagh Home

  1. …I had to check that Shonagh & Becca Tarnas weren’t the same person !! :

Also put in mind of ‘Five Denials on Merlin’s Grave’ by Robin Williamson :

    – a deep history in poetic form
…which also recalls to me Terence McKenna speaking @ length on the same subject of humanity’s & society’s origins…

This remarkable recitation (invocation?) somehow also strongly stirred Music in me :
this tune by PsychRawk pioneers the 13th Floor Elevators, for example :

  2. This is such an awesome recording! Thanks for sharing. Home schooling is a good option that has worked for our family for over 18 years here in the states and with 3 children.

Thank you Lorenzo for bringing to us Shonagh’s own personal experiences of contact with the other realms. I find that such direct contact is the most precious thing in my life, but I do feel torn nearly all the time between my roles in the world and those other places where I feel truly alive. Abandoning one’s mundane roles is often simply not an option, e.g. looking after the family. As far as I can see the truly urgent need is to develop some kind of meditative approach that infuses one’s direct experience of the “other” realms into one’s daily life, eliminating the “torn” feeling by ripping down those barriers between the mundane and the transcendental. Do you know where I can find detailed information on such a meditative path or practice? Living in Australia seems to make it almost impossible to make use of the sacred substances, so I will have to fall back on some other approach.

  4. Powerful and brave words from Shonagh. To re-enchant the world is no easy feat but I think it could be the most vital work of our time. Let’s revivify the imagination and break the spell of history.
