Terence McKenna’s final appearance at Esalen was a poignant and deeply moving event, etched into the memories of those who witnessed it. Though visibly frail from his recent brain surgery, McKenna’s presence was undiminished. His voice, though softer, carried the same rhythm of curiosity and wonder that had long captivated his audiences.
He spoke with a serenity that underlied his acceptance of his journey. As he sat in the intimate circle of friends and admirers, McKenna shared reflections that blended personal vulnerability with cosmic insight.
Despite his condition, he retained his signature humor, offering witty observations about humanity’s place in the grand scheme of things. He spoke less of theories and more of being; his words carrying a weight that seemed to come from someone who had glimpsed the infinite.
Your opening monolog was quite disappointing, especially as this is your last episode. Tell me you believe everything the news says, without telling me you believe everything the news says. Weird disposition for a psychedelic head, and funny how credibility, like trust, can be erased so easily.
Nonetheless, thanks for the last 20 years. Found you in 2009 and were my intro to Terence.

Lorenzo, you’ve been an inspiration to me since I began listening to the Salon back in 2015. Thank you so much for sharing Terence’s important talks with the world; they have significantly transformed my thoughts about life, the universe, and everything. May the multitude of ideas expressed by all the great speakers featured on the Salon continue to resonate with the psychedelic community.

Very appropriate to end with Terence’s last Esalen talk. Unbearably sad at times, but it’s good to sit with even old loss until it’s better.
All things must end – but nothing is lost.
I have spent countless hours indulging in the Terence Mckenna talks, often feeling like an alien among my own people, I am eternally grateful for the hours of Lorenzo podcasting Terence, many long lonely nights these podcasts have been my only friends and only source of inspiration. Thank you thank you thank you.

As an artist, I’ve done many a drawings listening to, being inspired, and uplifted by these podcasts over the past decade. It’s encouraging just to know the sound files in this comprehensive library were brought together with an enthusiastic community built around it, and that many have yet to discover this treasure of ideas, talks, and conversation for the first time.

I started listening to you in 2005. I heard of this thing called the Trilogues with these guys Terence McKenna, Ralph Abraham and Rupert Sheldrake. After a quick search I was brought to the Salon. What a great time it has been. All the best brother and again, thanks.

Thank you so much, Lorenzo! I’m 30 now and I’ve been listening to the Salon for maybe 6 or 7 years on and off. Life has been full of twists and turns, and I’m hoping to finish my undergrad degree this year…
I feel like the virtual circle of psychedelic people has linked the the past to the future for myself at least… the culture expressed in these recordings has given me a vibe to fight for
I think as long as we can protect as much vegetation as possible, the plants can always get us back on track
It’s hard to say much definitively these days except that certainly we in the US will have a dramatic year I think. History moves in waves, I guess, so please everyone eat your vegetables and think deeply! Thank you Lorenzo for your hard work through the years!
Lorenzo, I haven’t listened to the episode yet, but I just saw that this is your final podcast and felt compelled to let you know how important this podcast has been in my own journey. I’ve been a listener for over 15 years and it has done so much to shape my ideas about psychedelics and what it means to be human.
